How to duplicate or copy an inspection
Start a new inspection from one you've already finished, instead of from scratch. The copy has every area, note, photo, and checklist from the original, so you only update what's changed. It's handy for a move-in after the last tenant's move-out, or a routine inspection that picks up from the last one. It also works for a unit laid out like one you've already inspected.
Duplicate an inspection in the app
- Open the inspection you want to copy. Find it under its property.
- Select Duplicate this inspection. It's in the More list.
- Check the property and inspection. Under Property and Inspection, the one you opened is already picked. You can switch to any completed inspection here.
- Name the new inspection. It starts with the old inspection's name, so change it to something like Move-in inspection.
- Select Continue. The new inspection opens, ready to walk through.
You can also press and hold an inspection in the property's list and choose Duplicate inspection.
What comes with it
Every area comes across in the same order, with its notes, condition, checklist, and maintenance tasks, plus every photo and video. The people on the inspection come too, except you and any tenants. Add anyone new on the people step.
Signatures don't come with it, and the new inspection is dated today. The inspection you copied from stays exactly as it was.
Update what's changed
Walk the property as you normally would. In each area, update the notes and condition. Take new photos where anything has changed, and remove any photos that no longer match. Then finish and sign it like any other inspection. See how to perform an inspection.
Keep in mind
- Copying needs an internet connection, because the app fetches the original inspection.
- Only completed inspections can be copied.
- Duplicating is in the app only, not on the web.
- Did the inspection under the wrong property? See how to move an inspection.
