How to keep contacts for a property

Contacts are the people you work with at a property, like tenants, owners, clients, and property managers. Each one has a name, role, email, phone, and notes. You'll find them on the property's page.

They're a reference for you and your team. Contacts are private, and never appear on a report unless you add that person to one. Even then, their phone number and notes stay with your team.

Adding a contact to a report

On the People step of an inspection in the app, pick a contact to add them to the report quickly and ask for their signature. Their email is how we invite them to sign.

Your list builds itself

When you finish an inspection, anyone new you added to it is saved to the property's contacts, ready to pick next time. Contacts already on the list pick up any changes you made to their name, role, or email.

Adding and editing contacts

  1. Open the property from "Properties" in the web dashboard.
  2. Press "Add" on the "Contacts" card.
  3. Enter their role, like tenant or owner, and their name.
  4. Add an email, phone, or notes if you have them, then press "Save".

To edit a contact, click their name. To remove one, open it and press "Remove". You can also add, edit, and remove contacts in the app.

Contacts from myRent

If you've connected myRent, the people on each tenancy appear as contacts with the myRent logo. They're managed in myRent, so you can't remove them, and you can only edit their phone and notes.

Your team isn't a contact

Don't add teammates as contacts. You can add anyone on your team to a report straight from your team. On the web, open a draft report's "Add a new person" form and choose them under "From your team".

Who can see and edit them

Anyone on your team who can see a property can see and edit its contacts. That includes inspectors, on the properties assigned to them.
