How to schedule inspections and reminders
Tell myInspections how often you inspect each property, and we'll remind your team before the next inspection is due. Scheduling is available on every plan.
Set how often a property is inspected
Use this when a property is inspected on a regular cycle (routine inspections, compliance checks, seasonal visits, and more).
- Sign in on the web. Head to myinspections.com and sign in.
- Open the property. From Properties in the sidebar, select the property.
- Open its schedule. Select the schedule line under the property's name. You'll also find it under Inspection schedule when you select Edit.
- Choose how often. Finish the sentence "We run inspections every" with a number of days, weeks, months, or years.
- Choose your notice. Pick how many days ahead you'd like to be reminded: 3, 5, 7, 14, or 21.
Changes save as you make them. If the property shows No reminders, select Set inspection frequency first.
In the app, open the property and select Edit beside its next recommended inspection. You can change how often or turn it off there. The notice period is set on the web.
The next due date counts from the property's most recent inspection. A property with no inspections yet has no due date, so its reminders start after its first inspection.
Set defaults for new properties
- Open Settings. Admins will find it in the sidebar.
- Find New property default settings. Choose how often and how much notice, the same way as for a property.
Every property you add from then on starts with these settings. Existing properties keep their own. To start new properties with no schedule (one-off inspections, short-term rentals, and more), select Turn off scheduled inspections.
Apply one schedule to many properties
When other properties have different settings, a line under the schedule says how many, with an Update them to match link. Select it to give every property the same schedule and notice. It also becomes your default for new properties. Admins can do this from Settings or from any property's schedule.
Properties synced from myRent are left as they are.
Find properties that are due
- Open Properties. You'll find it in the sidebar.
- Filter by Due. Choose Overdue for properties due today or earlier, or In the next 30 days.
Sort by the Next due column to see what's coming up. When any properties are overdue or due soon, Home shows how many. Select the count to jump to the list.
Who gets reminders, and when
Reminders are push notifications from the myInspections app, so they reach people signed in to the app on their phone. We don't send reminder emails.
- When. One reminder per due date, sent at 8am New Zealand time on the day the property is your chosen notice away from being due. Nothing more is sent once it's overdue, so check the Overdue filter. Tapping the reminder opens the property in the app.
- Who. If the property is assigned, only the people assigned to it. Otherwise, every admin and teammate. See how to assign properties.
- myRent. When an inspection is booked in myRent for a synced property, the same people get a reminder two days before that date instead. See how to connect myRent.
Stop reminders
- For one property. Open its schedule and select Turn off. It shows No reminders and drops out of the Due filter.
- For some people. Assign the property to the people who should hear about it. Everyone else stops getting its reminders.
- On your phone. In the app, open Settings, then Notifications, and select Go to app settings. Turning notifications off there stops every myInspections notification on that phone, including when a report is signed.
